Calitzdorp, Port-Style Capital of South Africa

De Krans Vintage Reserve Port is widely regarded as one of the best Ports in South Africa. Only traditional Portuguese varieties are used in all De Krans Ports. The whole range, namely the Cape White, Pink Port, Cape Ruby, Cape Tawny, Cape Vintage and Vintage Reserve Ports, are made in the drier classical style.

The cellar has won more than 700 medals and awards (including multiple Veritas and Michelangelo double gold and gold awards) in the past 30 years and was crowned Champion Private Wine Cellar in the Klein Karoo region 6 times in the last 7 years. De Krans is not only known for its award-winning port-style wines, but also for its unique, high-quality red and white wines from Portuguese grape varieties. The 2015 De Krans Tritonia Calitzdorp Red Blend won the Best Non-Bordeaux Red Blend in South Africa at the 2017 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show and got a 91-point rating by Tim Atkin MW.

Handcrafted Stellenbosch

Located in the Bottelary Hills, with elevated south-west facing slopes overlooking Table Bay, the Steenkamp farms Friesland and Groenland are ideally situated for producing the finest quality Stellenbosch varieties. Friesland is also a province in the northern part of The Netherlands, and hence honours the Dutch heritage of the first Steenkamps settling in the Cape during the late 1600’s.

They love their red wine (specifically Bordeaux inspired blends) and their meat with the latter Karoo lamb coming from the family farm close to Sutherland! The Friesland team is also hosting destination marketing (sunset tasting events) in the vineyard.

Taste the Garden Route

Jakkalsvlei, directly translated as Jackal's Marsh, is a family owned winery nestled in the beautiful, world famous Garden Route. The Jonker family has been proud owners of Jakkalsvlei since 1972, and today it is farmed by the 3rd generation Jonkers on the farm.

The farmland was called Jakkalsvlei because of all the foxes, jackal's and wild cats seen in the mountains surrounding the farmland. While hunting in the Southern Cape during this time, Nelis Jonker senior was inspired to buy this beautiful piece of land. Jantjie Jonker, Nelis's grandson settled on the farm in 2006. In 2008 he bottled the first wine under the Jakkalsvlei label.

Today Jakkalsvlei wines are enjoyed by people all over the Garden Route, including some fine restaurants. You can't help but fall in love with the breathtaking views and the beautiful mountain range surrounding the farm.

Come explore this unique, off the beaten track wine farm in the Garden Route and experience true Southern Cape hospitality.
