A classic London Dry style gin. Clean, piny, and juniper-forward, this gin is balanced with bright lemon zest and lavender notes.
The main botanical, in this eight-botanical gin, is the leaf of the iGwanitsha, which is isiXhosa for the Spekboom tree. It is found predominantly in the Eastern Cape, and the semi-arid Karoo region of South Africa. Spekboom trees grow to be between two and five meters tall and can live up to 200 years.
The plant is easy to grow and can survive frost, drought, and fire. Spekboom is ten times more effective than the Amazon rainforest at removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. One hectare of Spekboom can remove 4.2 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The leaves of the Spekboom tree is edible and very high in Vitamin C, which adds to the well-balanced lemon-citrus heart of this perfect pouring Gin.
Mix one part gin to 4 parts of your favourite Indian tonic.
Spekboom deserves to be celebrated. Their tart, fresh flavour is unbeatable! This gin really doesn’t need much to outshine the other G&T’s on the block. We like to keep it simple.
FRUITY: Any fresh seasonal fruit like berries or figs, you can also experiment with frozen watermelon cubes for a more island-style feel.
