Volnay Premier Cru
CÔTE DE BEAUNE
Behind its ruby and purple-tinted color, our Volnay Premier Cru 2018 displays a nose with aromas of red fruits, fresh rose, and deliciously peppery brambles. The palate is fresh and juicy, with tannins that are at once tight and velvety. The finish, lightly saline, shows great length and fades slowly with a touch of graphite.
An elegant blend of limestone, calcareous scree, and clay-rich soils, the climat “Carelle-sous-la-Chapelle”, located mid-slope on the hill of Chaignot, creates our Volnay Premier Cru, a finely balanced and delicate Pinot Noir. Located just south of our hometown of Pommard, the village of Volnay has been renowned since the 18th century.
Hand-harvested grapes, hand-sorted on a vibrating table. 100% de-stemmed, placed into stainless steel fermentation vats by gravity flow. Weeks-long maceration, minimal pumping-over and punching-down. Pressing in pneumatic press. Placed in French oak barrels for aging on fine lees. Light filtration.
